Hot & Lazy Sundays

Believe it or not it does sometimes get hot up here! I'm not one for the heat, so when I'm finding it too much I head for the water to cool down. This August I finally got round to a dook in the waterfall just a mile down the orad from the house. It's only taken me nearly three years to get round to it! It's not very deep but it is beautiful and the water is clear with a peaty tint to it. It wasn't as cold as I was expecting so it felt refreshing and welcome and I could sit and enjoy it for a good 15 minutes without my toes turning blue. Whilst there I collected a small handful of fresh foraged chanterelles for dinner later. I had to scramble up the waterfall rocks to reach them, which is probably why they were still there. What a treat!

Back at home I assembled all the ingredients I needed for a tasty and healthy dinner of chanterelle and prawn sushi and then enjoyed the process of putting it together. All the windows and doors of the house were propped open to try and get a breeze through, the chaffinches and goldfinches in the garden were singing with gusto and Lucy was begging at my feet for treats. Once dinner was made I grabbed some chop sticks, which I think makes you eat more slowly and mindfully, and enjoyed my sushi in front of a movie, feet up feeling relaxed and grounded.
