I booked Tuesday off so Mum, Dad and I could have a day out and we decided to go to Inveraray. We started at the jail and had a very interesting self-guided tour, learning about the criminal justice systemof ancient crimes and punishments. The prison housed children for stealing apples, men for looting ships, women for stealing, all together in the same cold and filthy wing. There were many types of tortures and hard labour. But some of the prisoners counted themselves to be lucky for shelter and food at a time when many others were starving and in poverty
We had la very nice lunch at Brambles, of soupa nd sandwiches and a huge pot of tea, followed by a quick walk round the shops and then on to the garden centre on the shores of Loch Fyne to buy a couple fo plants and see the tiny aquarium tank next door. We rounded the day off with a quick drink at Fyne Ales before heading home. A nice day out.
