Fear of Missing Out
The next weekend Huw went to site on his own for three days. I had been on the verge of booking plane tickets to join him but at the last minute decided that it wasn't a sensible use of time and money to go all that way for just 48 hours when I was working all week either side of it. But then I spent the whole weekend disappointed that I wasn't there making discoveries with Huw rather than seeing it all via Whatsapp.
Anyway, Huw spent three days doing more strimming and brushcutting and branch trimming across the plot to clear as much as he could before the real work began the following week.
Huw spent one uncomfortable night sleeping at the site, sleeping on the back seat of his van, and sent me a photo of the cottage at night and of feet warming in front of the fire in the shed, which he had lit and seemed to be working well. The next day he was cooking bacon on the fire at break time!
He updated me with before and after photos and he was making good progress. I was impressed and very grateful for his hard work in my absence. He said he had found terraces in a garden area just down from the house and sent me pictures of interesting things growing round the plot. So much lovely variety that we must try and nurture and encourage.
Hopefully there won't be too many visits without me as I really want to get involved in everything we do and try and be helpful and supportive along the way.
